Pedigree Books and Zappar launch second wave of augmented reality annuals

Pedigree Books has partnered with Zappar once more to launch a second range of augmented reality enabled annuals.

The range of Super Interactive Annuals 2015 features brands including Temple Run, Angry Birds, Angry Birds Stella and Angry Birds Star Wars.

The launch of this year’s new annuals comes after the successful first range back in 2013-14, which prompted over 800,000 ‘zaps’ with 150,000 zaps on Christmas Day alone.

Owners of Super Interactive Annuals can zap one of 10 points in each of the annuals by using the free Zappar app on a smartphone or tablet. The camera lens unlocks zappable points on the page, unveiling exclusive content including interactive covers, colouring-in games, character profiles and poster creations.

“It’s great to be working with Pedigree for a second year," said Caspar Thykier, founder and managing director of Zappar.

"The results of last year’s interactive annuals were outstanding and gave both companies insight into just how receptive this audience is to AR content. By adding an exciting new title and features to this year’s line-up, we’re confident that readers will once again be thrilled with the extra content that Zappar offers to the annuals.”

Matthew Reynolds, publishing and sales director at Pedigree, added: “We are always looking for new ways to stay ahead of the competition and by working with Zappar we can ensure content is kept fresh and engaging.

"By adding the popular title Temple Run and new features, we hope to see results as exciting as last year’s where readers continued to ‘zap’ over weekends and school holidays.”

The Super Interactive Annuals are available now from retailers including WH Smiths, Argos and Asda for £7.99.
