Penguin Random House has embarked on a new partnership with the augmented reality app Bookful to bring Peter Rabbit to its library of content.
Bookful is the brainchild of the Israeli immersive content company, Inception. The firm has a goal to provide new ways for children to connect with books and reading.
As a strategic launch partner for the Bookful concept, Penguin Ventures has now made its range of titles available for download via the app. Titles include Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit, The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck and The Tale of Benjamin Bunny.
Each book featured in the app will have two modes: read and play, allowing kids to read an e-book version of the title with illustrations that come to life throughout, and play a range of activities in which kids interact with characters from the book in activities tied to the story.
According to The Bookseller, Bookful is looking to bring reading in to the concept of screen time by expanding the portfolio of partner it works with in the children’s sphere.
“Bringing books to life through augmented reality provides opportunities to create lifelong readers. We are proud to be partnering with Penguin Random House to work on such iconic books as Peter Rabbit, educational titles such as encyclopedias and early readers, and more titles to entertain, educate and delight both children and parents alike,” said Bookful’ CEO Benny Arbel.
