Pixar’s Coco set to take Thanksgiving box office

Disney is set to dominate the Thanksgiving box office once again with the critically acclaimed feature Coco.

The film debuts in cinemas Wednesday, with major tracking services projecting a five-day US domestic debut of $55 million-$60 million, with room for upside.

Coco joins Frozen, Moana, Tangled, The Good Dinosaur as the top six five-day Thanksgiving openings of all time, not accounting for inflation.

Coco tells the story of 12-year-old Miguel who finds himself in the Land of the Dead (inspired by Day of the Dead celebrations). The film has already been named the number one highest grossing film of all time in Mexico and is set to debut across 4,000 theatres in North America, with 268 locations screening the film in Spanish.
