Mind Candy to produce 52 11-minute episodes based on most popular characters.

Plans unveiled for Moshi Monsters animated series

Mind Candy has this morning unveiled plans for an animated series based on its smash hit Moshi Monsters brand.

The firm will produce a series of 52 11-minute episodes, based on the most popular characters, for distribution to both linear and digital platforms.

Chief business development officer, Darran Garnham, will open distribution discussons with global broadcast networks next week at Licensing Expo.

Jocelyn Stevenson, Mind Candy’s executive creative producer, film and TV projects, will lead the production.

"We’re looking forward to telling a wide range of new stories with these cartoons and taking the Moshi Monsters characters to new fans all around the word," said Michael Acton Smith, founder and creator of Moshi Monsters.

Moshi Monsters has over 80 million registered users in over 150 territories worldwide.

Its physical products span categories including toys, books, trading cards, two chart-topping Nintendo DS titles and publishing. Moshi Monsters Magazine launched in early 2011, immediately becoming the UK’s leading monthly title for kids.

Most recently, the brand has moved into the music arena, with its debut album – Moshi Monsters Music Rox – topping the UK album charts and going gold in 2012.
