PlayKids receives $5m investment for global expansion

The children’s entertainment app PlayKids has received $5million investment as it continues its global expansion with new eBook and popular kids’ titles.

The app is now adding PBS’ Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood and Dinosaur Train to its roster of popular children’s shows.

Meanwhile, the firm is now offering its audience of over three million children worldwide new eBook titles, including The Three Bears, The Three Little Pigs, The Tortoise and the Hare, Selfish Giant, Puss in Boots and The Pied Piper.

The titles will be available in English and Portuguese.

The $5 million investment from the firm’s parent company, Movile, follows the PlayKids app’s expansion in to 24 new countries earlier this year.

PlayKids is now the number one grossing app for children under five in ten countires, including the US.

“The move to add eBooks demonstrates PlayKids’ continued mission to offer a varied interactive and educational experience that kids deserve,” said Eduardo Henrique, Movile’s co-founder and head of US operations.

“The $5m investment helps us continue to zero in on delivering the best education and entertainment app for pre-schoolers and consistently upgrade and enhance the user experience.

“We recently ran the first TV commercial for PlayKids in Brazil and the results were amazing.”

The firm states that it is now looking to be more aggressive in its global marketing of the children’s entertainment app.
