Pokémon animated series readies 1000th episode

The Pokémon Company is celebrating an historic milestone in the legacy of the nearly 20-year-old brand with the TV debut of the animated series’ 1,000th episode.

The episode is part of the latest season, Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon—Ultra Adventures, set in the tropical Alola region. The episode promises to be memorable, as it features something not yet seen in the beloved series, a wedding.

The special episode airs at 8:20am on CiTV, with a repeat showing taking place at 6:00pm.

The Pokémon Company continues to support the brand as one of the most prominent video game crossover properties in the licensing space. The video game series continues to prove popular, with Pokémon Go’s continued support boosting the brand’s popularity on UK shores.

The Pokémon anime series has had an unprecedented sustained popularity, as one of the longest running anime series in history.

Elsewhere, ViZ Media has announced a new addition to the Pokémon  manga series. The Pokémon Sun & Moon manga series features the work of artist Satoshi Yamamoto and writer Hidenori Kusaka and launches on May 8th.

In this new Pokémon story arc, Moon is on her way to deliver a rare Pokémon to Professor Kukui in the Alola region when she meets his good friend Sun, a courier entrusted with a special Pokédex. Sun offers to safely deliver Moon to the professor’s lab… But then they tangle with a group of grunts from Team Skull and are attacked by a mysterious Pokémon! What is this sparkling stone the mysterious Pokémon leaves behind…?
