Pokémon cards at all time high in UK following 75% sales surge

Esdevium has recorded a UK ‘all time high’ for its evergreen property Pokémon following a sales surge of 75 per cent for the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

According to the latest figures from the NPD Group, this year’s sales rise for the first quarter ending March 2016, marks the third successive year of double digit UK growth for the Pokémon TGC.

According to Esdevium Games, the growth in sales suggests that UK interest in Pokémon is at ‘an all time high’.

“The sales in 2016 so far have been extraordinary,” commented Steve Buckmaster, managing director of Esdevium.

“Pokémon’s products have been outstanding this year, particularly those Box Sets associated with celebrations around 20 years of Pokémon. These have gone down a storm with our stores and fans alike.

“The Pokémon Company has done a fantastic job over the past few years in bringing players into the community and we’re also thankful to our stores who have championed the TCG.”

Esdevium Games has a raft of promotional activity planned throughout 2016 for the Pokémon Trading Card Game at both a consumer and store level.
