The Pokémon Company International has secured two major new UK partnerships with Sony Pictures Television Networks and Sky UK Limited.
Both new partners have acquired multiple seasons and movies from Pokémon’s programming portfolio based on the popular video game franchise, significantly increasing the reach and availability of Pokémon in the UK.
Sony Pictures Television Networks (Pop, Pop Max, and the Pop Fun app) has acquired content from Pokémon the Series: Black and White, which kids can watch on TV and via the Pop Fun app, while Sky subscribers can access content from Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl on demand, on various Sky platforms and via the Sky Kids app.
These latest deals are in addition to The Pokémon Company International’s longstanding partnership with CITV who recently launched the latest season in the growing Pokémon catalogue, Pokémon the Series: Sun and Moon – Ultra Adventures.
Emily Arons, senior VP international business at The Pokémon Company International, said: “These latest deals are testament to Pokémon’s broad appeal and provide UK fans with even more ways to watch animation across the long lineage of Pokémon content.”
Pokémon animation is now broadcast in more than 160 countries in more than 30 languages. The series follows Ash, Pikachu and friends and spans more than 1000 episodes across 21 seasons.
The Pokémon Company International’s TV distribution team will be looking to secure more deals for Pokémon the Series: Sun and Moon – Ultra Adventures at MIPTV.
