Pokémon offers European fans free trading cards this spring

The Pokémon Company International is gearing for the launch of a pan-European retail promotion, offering fans the chance to obtain a rare Shiny Charizard.

From April 3rd, fans will be able to get their hands on the character for their Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y videogames and a free Pokémon Trading Card Game: XY Primal Clash Collector’s Album from select retailers.

The initiative will launch with GAME outlets in the UK, before rolling out across similar retailers across France, Spain, Italy, Germany and the Nordic territories.

The campaign will be supported across GAME’s network of 320 UK stores, and supplemented with Pokémon themed displays, showcasing products from Pokémon videogames, trading card games and toys.

The activity will also be supported by a heavyweight advertising campaign incorporating cinema, TV and online.

In the UK, promotional TV spots will air from April 3rd to April 19th on CiTV, Cartoon Network and Disney XD among other channels.

“Pokémon is currently enjoying massive success in Europe and we are very proud to be working with so many great partners across Europe to bring exciting promotional retail campaigns to as many Pokémon fans as possible,” said Anthony Cornish, marketing director, The Pokémon Compnay International.

“The free Shiny Charizard and Pokémon Trading Card Game Collector’s Album will help drive significant footfall to our retail partners and strengthen brand engagement with Pokémon’s many fans.”
