Pokémon take on Edvard Munch’s The Scream in special Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum collaboration

The Pokémon Company has detailed a special collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum to pay tribute to the famous work of Edvard Munch.

The firm has brought its cast of Pokémon characters to a special new collection of trading cards in which each depicts their own take on Munch’s most famous piece of artwork, The Scream.

The collaboration has been launched to celebrate the Japanese debut of the artist’s collection as the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum prepares to host a special exhibition dedicated to the Norwegian artist.

Five special Pokémon promo cards, modeled after the painting will be released in celebration.

Pikachu, Eevee, Mimikyu, Rowlet and Psyduck will all step into the painting and reenact the famous screaming pose. Eevee, Rowlet and Psyduck cards will be available at Pokémon Centre stores as a purchase promo for card packs from this November.

Mimikyu will be included with purchase of a special mini card binder available via the Japanese Pokémon Centre online store and the museum itself to coincide with the exhibition starting at the end of this month.

Word on how to get your hands on this special depiction of Pikachu is yet to emerge.
