King Feature Syndicate and Razor MD partner to produce pop culture collection.

Popeye to feature on new shaving line

Classic character Popeye is to be the face of a new line of shaving products, following a collaboration between King Features Syndicate and Razor MD.

Starting from March 31st, Razor MD, a Florida-based manufacturer of men’s shaving and grooming products, will roll out the first of the special edition men’s shaving gift sets.

The spinach guzzling hero’s Shave Collection will be sold online at, as well as brick-and-mortar stores, barbershops and grooming lounges throughout North America.

The Razor MD Popeye Shave Collection is a natural, American-made line of products sold as a three-piece gift in a Popeye signature tin can.

Including shave cream, post-shave lotion and pre-shave oil the set’s rep is $62 each.

David Golzman, domestic licensing manager for King Features, said: "Popeye’s timeless association with masculinity, his clean shaven mug and his pop culture status makes him the perfect face for a custom shave line.

"Our partnership with Razor MD encompasses two brands that have a history of providing high-end, cutting edge products, allowing us to creatively modernise Popeye as a symbol of today’s ‘everyday man’.

"Regardless of age or background, Popeye is loved by men worldwide. This is a phenomenal line of products that not only perform well, but pay homage to the iconic Sailor Man we’ve all loved as boys growing up."

Razor MD is already working on a line for women featuring the cartoon’s heroine Olive Oyl.
