Macmillan Publishing has secured a worldwide book deal with cartoonist Rupert Fawcett for his canine cartoon series, Off the Leash.
The first title will be launched in time for Christmas.
The popularity of Off the Leash has grown massively since the beginning of the year, which Facebook followers leaping from 60,000 to over 150,000 today.
"I always thought that Off the Leash would be popular, but I never anticipated the fanbase growing so rapidly," said Fawcett. "It is fantastic that Macmillan sees the potential in the brand; I can’t wait to see the cartoons in print for the first time."
Jon Butler, head of non-fiction at Macmillan, added: "Every so often a cartoon comes along that connects immediately with the public at large, and Off the Leash is without doubt one of those brands.
"Rupert’s cartoons are consistently funny and have broad international appeal. We are certain that this new series of books will bring great enjoyment to dog lovers everywhere."
The brand – which is managed by Clive Juster & Associates – has also recently licensed Customworks for coasters and fridge magnets, plus Art You Grew Up With for limited edition prints.
