Hello Kitty has celebrated her official 40th anniversary with a life sized cake unveiled at Hamleys in London.
Created by expert cake artist Sarah Hardy and her team, the Hello Kitty cake stood at five feet high and was decorated to match her special 40th anniversary purple and pink dress.
The cake, made from Madagascan vanilla sponge and butter cream, took over one hundred hours to make and features over 80 edible jelly gems, ten iced colourful teddy bears and contains over 36kg of icing, 5kg of flour, 20 vanilla pods and 60 eggs.
"Since her introduction 40 years ago, Hello Kitty has always been about providing happiness, friendship and fun to the world," said Sandrine de Raspide, SVP of Sanrio Global Ltd.
