Following on from its deal with LazyTown and Sportacus in April, UK supermarket chain Asda has revealed that it achieved one million more sales than the same time last year.

The deal saw Sportacus in-store promoting Asda's Great Stuff fruit and vegetable range - leading to a 28 per cent spike in sales over the same month in 2008.

The initiative was launched with a personal appearance by Sportacus (Magnus Scheving) at Asda's megastore in Derby, which saw more than 1,000 children turn up.

"The amazing activity that happened in stores over Easter has already made a huge difference to our mission which is to get one million children up, moving and eating their five-a-day during 2009," said Rick Bendel, Asda's chief marketing officer.

"During the Easter promotion we sold one million extra Great Stuff fruit bags - that's one million kids who weren't consuming fruit before are now eating Great Stuff fruit.

"Teaming up with LazyTown and Sportacus is really helping us to help families choose a healthier lifestyle."
