Mixed Q1 for Mothercare

Retailer reports strong international growth, but UK sales are down year on year.

Mothercare had a tricky first quarter, with UK sales falling year-on-year during the 15 weeks ending July 14th 2012.

Like-for-like UK sales fell 6.7 per cent, and UK direct in home sales dropped 7.1 per cent. Overall UK sales dropped 10.2 per cent.

However, international sales rose 11 per cent. But this wasn't enough to prevent total group sales falling 4.4 per cent.
