Rainbow Productions is taking full advantage of the school summer holidays, teaming up with a number of licensors and retailers for a plethora of personal appearances by its licensed characters.

Warner Bros and Rainbow have been working with both Toys R Us and Asda to help promote the live theatre tour of Scooby-Doo and the Pirate Ghost, with Scooby-Doo and Shaggy making personal appearances in stores across the UK.

The in-store activity has already run in Asda outlets and will now be visiting Toys R Us stores in Oxford, Brighton, Reading, Brent Cross, Belfast and Derry, ending on August 29th.

Rainbow also managed the in-store appearances of Fireman Sam at Smyths toy stores in June and July, working with Hit. The tour was designed to help promote outdoor and fire safety to young children, as well as showcase the character's licensed product range.

Smyths also booked a tour by Ben 10 character Humungasaur, visiting a selection of stores in July and August.

Nickelodeon joined forces with the company and Sledge to develop an on the road experiential event to support its key channel properties in 2009. The activity has been running since the beginning of August, culminating on August 20th, and features personal appearances by Dora the Explorer and Spongebob Squarepants.

Meanwhile, an alliance between the Westfield Group and E1 Entertainment resulted in Rainbow taking Peppa Pig and her brother George to Westfield shopping centres across the country this summer. The duo also participated in Westfield London's Shimmer 09 event in July.

The Peppa Pig and George narrations will be running at various shopping centres until August 31st.

Finally, as part of its ongoing summer events programme, Liverpool One has booked a number of character appearances through Rainbow, scheduled to take place every Thursday in August.

In addition to July seeing the centre host an Angelina Ballerina workshop, plus a separate visit from Peppa Pig and George, shoppers will also have the opportunity to participate in a Snoopy workout or meet Noddy, Fifi Forget-Me-Not and Mr Bump.
