The popular book series Berenstain Bears is celebrating its 50th anniversary by targeting potential licensing and retail partners.
The franchise – which has sold over 250m copies of some 300 books – is one of the best-selling book brands in business.
Media and entertainment firm Nelvana Enterprises has already produced 40 episodes of the Berenstain animated TV series, and there’s even a film in development.
“Families have turned to the Berenstain Bears for over a half a century now to learn about and reinforce important life lessons and values, all conveyed in a comforting, fun and engaging way,” said Andrew Kerr, head of consumer products for The Americas and Australasia at Nelvana Enterprises.
“There is no family quite like the Bears, who have become a true American ‘institution’, and we are excited at all of the possibilities that this milestone anniversary presents.”
Random House Children’s Books and HarperCollins Children’s Books continue to publish new books in the Berenstain Bears series. The latter will publish 19 new titles this year, while Random House is working on an anniversary edition of the first Berenstain book – The Big Honey Hunt.
