The Roald Dahl Story Company will unveil a raft of new games from key licensees at London’s Toy Fair next week.
The expanded range for 2019 will include titles from Winning Moves, Green Board Games and Paul Lamond, all of which will focus on education, player engagement and brand extensions.
For a long time, games have been at the heart of the Roald Dahl brand’s licensing portfolio and continue to prove popular both at retail and with consumers.
The Roald Dahl Top Trumps line from Winning Moves will feature new titles for 2019 including James and the Giant Peach, George’s Marvellous Medicine, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Twits and The Witches.
Other new games for 2019 are two new Brainbox games from Green Board Games. One of the games has the same play pattern as the original but features a new design, cards and questions which will appeal to existing fans; the second is a new board game version which enables players to accelerate game speed.
Finally, Paul Lamond will be showcasing three new educational games at Toy Fair – a popular format in keeping with core story values; the Matilda game focuses on spelling, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for maths and The BFG game focuses on words.
This all arrives off the back of what The Roald Dahl Story Company has described as a strong 2018 for the brand, with "increased uplift of products at retail throughout the year."
2018 culminated with the announcement of the groundbreaking new deal with Netflix.
"2019 will see further expansion across a number of titles from the estate in categories such as plush, gifting, clothing and bedding and the brand’s ‘hero title’ strategy will focus around the hugely popular and globally adored Matilda with a range of new publishing, product, events, partnerships and digital presence," said the firm.
