Roobarb and Custard goes digital with new appbook series

Box of Frogs Media has signed with Bulldog Licensing to develop a series of interactive appbooks based on the popular animated duo, Roobarb and Custard.

The digital specialist will launch three new titles, bringing original script, animations and narratives to the digital platform.

The first appbook will launch in October this year to help celebrate Roobarb and Custard’s 40th anniversary.

Created in the 1970s, Roobarb and Custard returned in 2005 in Roobarb and Custard Too, which remains one of the top performing shows on Channel 5’s kids’ network, Milkshake.

“Box of Frogs is delighted to b part of such a high profile birthday,” said CEO Ben Simpson. “We are incredibly excited to be working on such an iconic brand, I watched and loved Roobarb and Custard as a boy and now I can’t wait to bring the digital stories to a new generation of fans.”

Box of Frogs now joins a burgeoning roster of licensees for the popular animation, including BCI for apparel, Flametree for calendars, Fred and Ginger for pet accessories, Brazier & Co for plush and Museums and Galleries for greetings cards.

Vicky Hill of Bulldog Licensing, added: “Taking Roobarb and Custard in to the digital sector exemplifies the creativity, flexibility and ongoing potential of this classic brand and I am sure these appbooks will be a big hit.”
