Rovio launches Rise of the Clones to mark Angry Birds Star Wars II success

Rovio Entertainment is celebrating a ‘strong response to its Angry Birds Star Wars II,’ reporting over 30 million Telepod scans since the game’s launch.

And to mark the milestone, the firm is releasing a new chapter for Angry Birds Star Wars II called Rise of the Clones.

The new chapter brings 44 new levels, featuring gameplay elements such as wind and water currents.

Angry Birds Star Wars II launched in September 2013 and features Hasbro’s Telepods, a smart device allowing players to teleport their physical figures in to a game.

The series features over 30 Telepod figures including Rebel Birds and Imperial Pigs.

“We are thrilled at how popular the Telepods platform is with our fans,” said Jami Laes, EVP Games of Rovio.

“Rovio is constantly exploring novel ways to delight the world with new entertainment technology, including ways for players to experience our games in both the physical and digital space.

“We are happy to collaborate with the innovative team at Hasbro on the Telepods platform.”

As part of the celebrations, Finnish photographer Vesa Lehtimaki wil feature Angry Birds Star Wars Telepods figures in a new photo series.
