Royal Horticultural Society endorses new Genus Performance Gardenwear range

The Royal Horticultural Society has detailed another apparel endorsement for Genus Performance Gardenwear, a designer and supplier of high-performance clothing for gardeners.

The RHS is endorsing a new extension to the Genus range – its first waterproof trousers, specially designed for gardening and created to keep wearers dry.

Designed in two different styles, one cut for men and another shaped for women, the waterproof trousers feature a full-length, fully waterproof lining and a quick-drying, showerproof outer layer, made from a lightweight fabric.

The waterproof trousers also feature the full range of unique features and functionality that the brand is renowned for, including built-in knee pads, stab-resistant pockets for secateurs, a range of zipped pockets for gardening equipment, and a raised waistband for back protection.

The new trousers are part of the wider Genus range that carries an endorsement from the RHS – currently the only RHS endorsement awarded to gardenwear.

The RHS-endorsed Genus range includes the popular three-Season Gardening Trousers for Women, Everyday Gardening Trousers for Women and All-Weather Gardening Trousers for Men. Summer Gardening Trousers for Women and Summer Gardening Shorts, for both women and men, are also available.

The target market for the range includes amateur gardeners, garden designers and professional gardeners in a wide range of territories; Genus products sell to thousands of people all over the world.

The endorsement of the Genus ranges followed extensive trialling by RHS gardeners at RHS Garden Wisley.

Sue O’Neil, director, Genus Performance Gardenwear, said: “It’s important to us to be able to make gardenwear that both looks good and is useful. We’re delighted with this new extension to our range and with its RHS endorsement – and, as gardeners, thrilled to have succeeded in our aim of designing totally waterproof trousers.”

Cathy Snow, RHS licensing manager, added: “These new totally waterproof trousers will no doubt be welcomed by many UK gardeners, for whom they will be a useful addition to their gardening essentials. We’re delighted to be able to offer our endorsement of this fine addition to the Genus gardenwear range.”
