Sony Pictures has confirmed that Skyfall director Sam Medes will return to direct the next Bond movie.
Bond 24 has also been given a release date of October 23rd here in the UK and in November 6th in the US.
Daniel Craig is back as 007, as also returning to the franchise is Skyfall screenwriter John Logan.
Despite a toing and froing as to whether Mendes would return, it’s not too big a surprise considering Skyfall took $1.1 billion worldwide, became the highest-grossing film of all time in the UK and was the best-selling Bond film on DVD and Blu-ray.
“I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24,” said Mendes.
“I very much look forward to taking up the reins again, and to working with Daniel Craig, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for a second time.”
It marks 2015 as The Year of the Blockbuster with Bond 24, Star Wars: Episode VII, The Avengers 2, Independence Day 2, Mission Impossible 5, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and a new Terminator film all hitting the big screen that year.
