Sesame Street kicks off healthy summer campaign with string of new product collabs

Sesame Workshop is celebrating the arrival of summer with a line-up of new product collaborations to supplement the premiere of its Fun in the Sun videos on Sesame Street’s YouTube channel.

The video series encourage families to enjoy the outdoors while practicing sun safety, and features favourite characters Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby Cadabbymodel partaking in healthy summer habits by applying sunscreen, wearing protective clothing, and staying hydrated on hot days.

As part of the campaign, the video series’ sponsor, Blue Lizard has children and families covered with the launch of an exclusive line of Sesame Street-branded sunscreen products. Consumers can spot Elmo on the mineral baby sunscreen and Cookie Monster on the mineral-based kids’ sunscreen.

Both products come in colour-changing Smart Bottle or Smart Cap tubes, which turn pink (Elmo) or blue (Cookie Monster) in harmful UV light. Additionally, Blue Lizard and Sesame Workshop are partnering with dermatologists’ and pediatricians’ offices nationwide to encourage a healthy summer.

Meanwhile, families can stay protected with an eye protection line from the Sesame Street x DIFF Eyewear collection. For every pair of protective sunglasses or blue light glasses purchased, DIFF will donate a pair of reading glasses to someone in need.

Since 2015, DIFF has donated over 1,000,000 pairs of reading glasses around the world.

On top of this, Green Toys – the manufacturers of recycled and recyclable toys, has launched a line of Sesame Street outdoor toys, including Elmo’s Wagon, which complements its existing summer-themed gardening sets, Elmo’s Watering Can, and Abby’s Garden planting kit.

Finally, families on-the-go can stay hydrated all summer with the Sesame Street x Tervis collection of insulated tumblers. Available in multiple sizes – including sippy cups – the tumblers feature Tervis’s unique wrap-around printed designs starring favorite Sesame Street friends.

“Summer is a great opportunity for families to enjoy the outdoors and spend extra time together,” said Gabriela Arenas, vice president of licensing, North America, Sesame Workshop. “We’re pleased to collaborate with our partners on new content, products, and resources that will keep families happy and healthy through all their summertime adventures – with a little help from their Sesame Street friends.”
