Sixteen South has commenced development of a new pre-school series based on the popular picture-book character Claude.
Aimed at children aged four to six, the new series – based on the titles from Alex T. Smith – marks the sixth major children’s TV project for the award winning studio, joining a portfolio including Sesame Street and Pajanimals.
The new series will follow the adventures of Claude, the beret wearing canine, as he explore the world with his friends Sir Bobblysock, Mr and Mrs Shineyshoes, Mrs Cowpat the Farmer and Brenda Burntbottom the fire chief.
Sixteen South’s creative director, Colin Williams, said: "We fell in love with Claude the moment we opened Alex’s amazing books.
"We love his humour and the unique design and styling of Claude and his world, and are really excited to develop the series for children to enjoy at home in the UK and around the world.
"We take great care in choosing which shows to develop and we’ll only commit to those that we would love to make and spend a long time nurturing and growing.
"We are delighted to have a great team on board and to work with our friends at Hachette publishing."
Claude is being developed by Sixteen South’s creative director Colin Williams and head of development Emily Whinnet.
