Emily Whinnett joins kids' production company as head of development.

Sixteen South hires former Chapman director

Sixteen South has hired Emily Whinnett, the former director of production and development at Chapman Entertainment.

She takes on the role of head of development at the Northern Ireland-based children’s production company.

Whinnett helped produce successful shows such as Fifi and the Flowertots, Roary the Racing Car, Raa Raa the Noisy Little Lion and Little Charley Bear at Chapman, which entered administration late last year.

Emily also produced ‘Peter Kay’s Animated All Star Band – the Official BBC Children in Need medley 2009’, which reached number one in the singles charts, raising £500,000 for the BBC charity.

She will work alongside Sixteen South’s creative director Colin Williams leading the development team.

Williams said: "We’re really thrilled to have Emily joining our family here at Sixteen South. She’s one of the brightest creatives in the children’s entertainment world and brings so much experience at the highest level, having worked on so many first class productions.

Whinnett added: “I can’t wait to get started. The quality of the shows developed and produced by Sixteen South are of the very highest standard and I am looking forward to building on the successful portfolio, applying my skills and experience whilst working with an incredibly talented team.”

Sixteen South has produced kids shows across comedy, drama, entertainment and learning, and has partnered with Sesame Workshop, The Jim Henson Company and the BBC.

The company’s slate includes Sesame Tree, Big City Park, Big and Small, Pajanimals and Driftwood Bay.
