Sky 1 commissions Fungus the Bogeyman series

Sky 1 has commissioned a TV series based on Raymond Briggs’ classic Fungus the Bogeyman book.

Set to air this Christmas, the four part series will be produced by Imaginarium Studios, in partnership with Double Negative’s TV department, DNeg TV and will feature both live action and animated elements.

The book, first published in 1977, follows Fungas, a bogeyman who lives underground but ventures to the surface to scare humans. The four episodes of the show will see Fungus and his son Mould journey through the maze of life on the surface, while also discovering the highs and lows of their father and son relationship.

“I’m beyond excited that Sky 1 and Imaginarium Studios will be bringing the Raymond Briggs’ classic Fungus the Bogeyman squelchingly up to date as a top quality, ambitious and joyous family treat for our customers," said Adam MacDonald, director of Sky 1.
