The Smiley brand has teamed up with Manchester-based Studio Liddell to create a new mobile and tablet gaming community.
Using the expressive SmileyWorld brand, the digital studio has created a puzzle app concept which consists of multiple games and functions.
There are three play modes, with updates scheduled for early 2013 integrated into social media for users to compete against friends and post to Game Centre scoreboards.
"I am delighted that SmileyWorld is creating a new buzz in the digital gaming market," said Nicolas Loufrani, CEO at Smiley. "When I originally created the SmileyWorld brand, it was through new digital technology such as the internet and basic emoticon gaming that the icon phenomena grew.
"We were there from the beginning and I am happy to see us take the icons to another level."
