Soho Square Productions bolsters team

Soho Square Productions has bolstered its team with the addition of Emily Whinnett as its new director of programmes.

Whinnett has over 13 years experience working in the children’s television industry. She spent eight years as director of production and development at Chapman Entertainment, where she worked on properties including Fifi and the Flowertots, Roary the Racing Car, Little Charley Bear and Raa Raa the Noisy Lion.

In addition, Whinnett has produced Peter Kay’s Animated All Star Band, The Official BBC Children in Need Medley in 2009. The song was recorded at Soho Square Studios, with musical direction from co-founders Kim Goody and Alan Coates. It reached number one and raised over £500,000 for the BBC charity.

Whinnett has also worked as head of development at Sixteen South, where she was responsible for IP development including its new series, Claude.

At Soho Square, Whinnett will oversee production and IP development on all shows from children’s CG animation and live action, to documentaries and drama.

"We are excited about the new opportunities and depth of knowledge that Emily brings to our company," said Goody. "She is one of the best children’s creatives in the industry and we have a lot of confidence in her.

"This is a big year for us and Emily’s experience in production and development will ensure that she plays a vital role in our success moving forward."
