Sony Pictures reveals intentions to build Pixels licensing programme

Sony Pictures Consumer Products is looking to recruit a roster of global licensing partners for the upcoming action comedy Pixels.

The firm is looking to put together a strong multi category programme for the film, which is released in summer 2015 and stars Kevin James, Adam Sandler and Michelle Monaghan.

Intergalactic aliens misinterpret video feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them and attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults.

"We are thrilled to offer this exciting title in all categories including hardlines, softlines, publishing and interactive," said Greg Economos, SVP global consumer products at Sony Pictures. "We look forward to collaborating with our valued licensed and retail partners in bringing Pixels to life with strong merchandising initiatives and retail activations."
