The Hive licensing agent Space Enterprises has sealed a deal with distributor and producer Abbey Home Media for the exclusive home entertainment rights to the programme in the UK and Eire.
The Hive is produced by Monumental Productions, Lupus Films and DQ Entertainment and follows the adventures of Buzzbee, Rubee and the rest of the Bee family, who live together in Honeybee Hive.
The Hive has proved to be popular across the globe and alongside the UK and Australia, the show is broadcast to over 150 other countries.
“Everyone at Abbey is delighted to have signed the agreement for home entertainment rights for The Hive,” said Dan Harriss, chief operating officer of Abbey Home Media.
“It is a wonderful series with fantastic animation and stories appealing to children of all ages. We have currently scheduled the first release to be available from October 2013.”
The partnership is the latest in a long line for The Hive, with past deals including Mookie Toys for Master Toy, EMI Publishing, Blues Clothing, Jupiter Toys, Ravensburger, Kurio, LeapFrog and Aykroyds TDP.
"We have been looking for a strong partner to take on the home entertainment license for The Hive so it is fantastic to be linking up with one of the best in the business in the shape of Abbey Home Media,” adds Space director of licensing Mark Hurry.
“There is huge demand out there for anything linked to The Hive so product is set to perform very strongly at retail.”
