Studio Press, an imprint of Kings Road Publishing, has inked a new deal with Beano Studios to launch a range of titles inspired by the teenage magazine, Jackie.
In a deal brokered by David Riley of David Riley Consulting Limited, the deal will see Kings Road’s trends imprint and Beano Studios work together to create books.
“Jackie was the magazine for generations of young women. As such, it holds a special place in so many people’s hearts. We are thrilled to be bringing this much-loved, iconic brand to Kings Road Publishing,” said Helen Wicks, creative director at Kings Road Publishing.
“Working with D.C Thomson & Co, we plan to create a range of books that will combine nostalgic appeal with a very modern twist. Together, we will provide Jackie fans with new, relevant and witty content alongside heartfelt and hilarious reminders of their youth”
Jackie first launched in 1964 as a weekly magazine for teenage girls, where it ran for ten years until 1993.
The non-fiction publishing programme will offer the best of the magazine’s heritage, from the Cathy and Claire problem page to the Photo Love Stories.

The first title is slated for release in 2018.
