Section for textile design studios to grow by 33 per cent in upcoming May show.

Surtex expands new Atelier space to cope with demand

Due to strong demand from trend-forward textile design studios which sell their work, Surtex has decided to expand the new Atelier section at this May’s show by 33 per cent.

The specialised area within the showfloor will act as a hub for textiles manufacturers and retailers seeking to buy the latest surface designs from top textile design studios.

More than 65 studios from the US, UK, Italy, France, Netherlands, Israel, Japan and Argentina have been confirmed to attend, with nearly half from outside the US.

The newly expanded floor plan will allow for another 25-30 studios to unveil their collections in the Atelier.

"We are thrilled that with the exceptional response to Atelier, Surtex will be able to deliver an unparalleled offering of top notch art and design for textiles and related interior companies, as well as for all other product sectors," said Penny Sikalis, VP of GLM and manager of the Surtex show.

"With representatives from around the world, Surtex will unquestionably be the premier market in the US for anyone seeking the most cutting edge designs for product development."

Surtex will run from May 19th to 21st at the Jacob K Javits Convention Center, New York.
