The Hut Group debuts new Swizzels collection

DTC platform The Hut Group has added Swizzels Matlow to its portfolio of brands.

Brokered by Blonde Sheep Licensing, the deal includes multiple sweet-inspired products including apparel, homewares, gift, and more, which first launched in February with ranges on www.IWOOT.com, www.zavvi.com  and www.veryneko.com.

Swizzels is the largest independent British-owned manufacturer of sugar confectionery in the UK and is still run by members of the families who founded the business back in 1928. The company makes a range of well-known products including Love Hearts, Squashies, Refreshers, Drumstick Lollies, Rainbow Drops, Double Lollies and Fruity Pops.

“It’s great to see the range of on-demand products available through various websites,” says Natasha Dyson, Managing Director at Blonde Sheep Licensing. “The Hut Group is recognised for selling the biggest on-trend brands, so we’re thrilled to be part of their portfolio, which offers the opportunity to get Swizzels products directly into the hands of fans both old and new.”

Blonde Sheep Licensing continues to investigate other opportunities for Swizzels in categories including jewellery, toys and food.

Blonde Sheep Licensing kickstarts Golden Casket deal with new partners for sweet brand Millions

Blonde Sheep Licensing has been tapped to handle the consumer merchandising programme Golden Casket’s popular confectionery brand, Millions, across select categories, including cupcakes, toiletries, and mini puzzles.

A family owned Scottish business established in the 1950s, Golden Casket’s product range includes Buchanan’s, Hills of Hawick, Millions, £Onepounders, Gibbs, Fudgy Wudgy, and Gilda. The business is one of the largest confectionery specialists in the UK.

Launched in 1990, the Millions sweets range was an instant success with kids and consumers and has since grown into multiple formates and flavours. Each flavour – strawberry, bubblegum, cola, apple, raspberry, blackcurrant, and tropical – pairs with a fun character, making Millions an appealing proposition for licensees and retailers.

Blonde Sheep Licensing has already secured licensees for toiletries, hand wash, sanitiser, cupcakes, nutritional supplements, and mini puzzles. Products will launch this summer through grocers, B&M, toy retailers, Amazon, and other online stores.

“We are delighted to be working with Natasha at Blonde Sheep. The range of licensed products they are working on is so different to confectionery, which is new, fun and exciting for us at Golden Casket,” said Sandra Fisher, sales and marketing director, Golden Casket. “Natasha has been very creative in all her ideas and always keen to mirror the fun, bright colourful side of the Millions brand in every way.”

Natasha Dyson, managing director, Blonde Sheep Licensing, added: “The reaction to Millions has been fantastic. Licensees are developing products that smell and taste of the sweets and are appealing to multiple age groups, which I’m sure will be a huge hit with consumers.”

YWOW Games partners with Swizzels as its continues plans to ‘revolutionise games and puzzles’

YWOW Games is continuing its mission to ‘revolutionise the games and puzzles industry’ through a new partnership with Swizzels for a range of Swizzels puzzles. It’s part of the company’s ongoing plans to bring household brands to the collectable jigsaw puzzles market.

In a deal brokered by Blonde Sheep Licensing, YWOW has struck up its partnership with the firm recognised as one of the longest established manufacturers of confectionery in the UK, to bring a puzzle assortment featuring a range of some of Swizzels’ most iconic brands.

Love Hearts and Drumstick Squashies will both feature in the collection.

YWOW kicked off the innovative brand ‘Mini Puzzles’ with Kellogg’s and Pringles earlier this year, with distribution channels reaching most major markets. According to the firm, the two licensed puzzle lines are selling out in major retailers in the UK and outperforming their competitors in specialty stores and hypermarkets.

‘It is evident from the brand’s success in these markets that the current circumstances make puzzles even more of an evergreen category,’ said the firm.

YWOW Games has indicated that it is ‘only just getting started’ with its licensing programme and has promised to bring the range to all markets.

“YWOW are already seeing success with other iconic brands across puzzles and I have no doubt this success will continue with the Swizzels brands,” said Natasha Dyson, managing director, Blonde Sheep Licensing. “It has been a pleasure working with such an enthusiastic team.”

Swizzels’ Love Hearts, Drumstick and Refreshers move into the biscuit aisle with Infinity Brands

The UK food gifting supplier, Infinity Brands, has partnered with Swizzels to produce a range of biscuits inspired by the confectionery brand’s range of iconic treats, including Love Hearts, Drumstick, and Refreshers. The range is due to launch later this year.

Swizzels is the largest independent British owned manufacturer of sugar confectionery in the UK and is still run by members of the families who founded the business back in 1928. Among the well-known products made by the outfit are the likes of Squashies, Rainbow Drops, Double Lollies and Fruity Pops.

The deal was brokered by Blonde Sheep Licensing and will see the biscuits sold in bold, Swizzels-themed food grade tins for strong shelf presence. The range will be sold across multiple retail channels including with garden centres, farm shops, delis, independents and online.

Darren Rickless, managing director at Infinity Brands, said: “We are delighted to have signed a licensing agreement with Swizzels, a company with such a strong heritage, great products and brand awareness. We have spent the last three or four months developing a range of biscuits to match the flavours of some of Swizzels most popular sweets including Refreshers and Squashies.

“Our Love Heart biscuits are round pure butter shortbread biscuits embossed with some of the most popular Love Heart slogans. The biscuits are to be produced in the UK and will initially be launched in fabulous keepsake tins. Other retail packaging will be introduced to the market in 2021.”

Natasha Dyson, managing director at Blonde Sheep Licensing, added: “The food category continues to perform very well for Swizzels, so biscuits are a natural progression. Darren has spent a long-time perfecting the taste and fizz sensation, so we know consumers won’t be disappointed.”

Blonde Sheep Licensing continues to explore other opportunities for Swizzels in categories including home, food and social greetings.
