Nelvana and Cloudco Entertainment announce host of new partnerships for Care Bears

The lovable, huggable Care Bears from the whimsical land of Care-a-Lot are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. To celebrate, Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana, a world-leading international producer, distributor, and licensor of children’s animated and live-action content, and Cloudco Entertainment, owner of the Care Bears entertainment brand, are bringing the iconic Care Bears brand to life through food, apparel, and experiential event collaborations with companies across Canada.

With anniversary collaborations set to launch this summer and autumn, food and apparel retail partners include:

  • iHalo Krunch – Known for Asian-inspired soft-serve ice cream served in activated charcoal house-made cones, all retail locations in Toronto will offer limited-edition Care Bears inspired twists and milkshakes.
  • Bunners Bakeshop – Toronto’s premier vegan and gluten-free bakery will offer limited-edition rainbow Care Bears sugar cookies, rainbow s’mores squares, mini rainbow birthday cake doughnuts, mini rainbow chocolate chip creamies, and rainbow mini heart cookies with birthday frosting dunking kits at all storefront locations.
  • Eva’s Original Chimneys – Chimneys are delicious and unique, bread-like freshly baked Hungarian pastries – which Eva’s famously serves in a cone shape filled with ice cream. Eva’s Bloor Street, Port Credit, Square One, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia locations will offer limited-edition Care Bears-inspired Chimney Cones.
  • SQUISH Candies – Canadian female-owned gourmet gummy shop with real fruit pieces, no sugar added options, and vegan delights in juicy flavours will offer limited-edition Care Bears-themed candy and packaging, available through their website for delivery across Canada.
  • Peace Collective (PC) PC produces quality apparel that looks good and does good, and in turn makes you feel good. Every garment sold gives back to the communities that need it most. A limited-edition Care Bears clothing collection will feature the characters in unique ways and celebrate sharing, caring, and pride. Available in-store and online.

This summer, Nelvana will also be delivering one-on-one time with the Care Bears themselves through experiential activations across Ontario, including a Peace Collective x Care Bears event in Toronto’s Distillery District on June 25 to celebrate the collection launch and an event at Pride Toronto on June 26 at Church Street Junior Public School. Bulldog signs new licensees for Care Bears

Bulldog Licensing has added two new licensees to the consumer products programme for much-loved heritage property Care Bears, providing new categories for the brand’s many fans across the globe.

Character World is bringing its fashion-forward style on board to offer a range of bedding and soft furnishings for fans, allowing them to recreate their very own Care-a-Lot clouds in their bedrooms.

Meanwhile, Eat Glitter and Shine has partnered with the property to design a collection of homewares featuring the globally recognised bears. The range of FDA-approved kids’ and baby dinnerware will include melamine dishes, bowls, plates, and cups. The products will be dishwasher safe, and will bring the likes of Cheer Bear, Bedtime Bear, and Love-a-Lot Bear to mealtimes.

First created in 1982, Care Bears is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The Care Bears have grown through various looks and styles, but the rainbow colours, main characters, and unique belly badges, along with the core messages of kindness and caring, remain the same.

British fashion label Chinti & Parker launches Care Bears collection

Bulldog Licensing’s latest partner to celebrate the Care Bears’ 40th anniversary by joining the consumer products programme is luxury knitwear label Chinti & Parker.

Established in 2009, Chinti & Parker produces knitwear that celebrates joyful colour, timeless shapes and innovative textures. Now, using some of its favourite intarsia knitting techniques and intricate embroidery, Chinti & Parker brings the colourful Care Bears to life in a collection of cashmere jumpers, hoodies, sweat pants and T-shirts. The range is the latest in a line of nostalgic collaborations for the fashion label and features oversized, slouchy fits and a bold colour palette designed to keep the look cool rather than cutesy.

While the Care Bears have grown through various looks and styles over the last 40 years, the rainbow colours, main characters and unique belly badges, along with the core messages of kindness and caring, remain iconic and instantly recognisable.

Designs in the Chinti & Parker collection range from the classic Care Bears logo to the faces of characters including Grumpy Bear and Lucky Bear, as well as jumpers with Cheer Bear and Funshine Bear emerging from their pockets, and fun slogans such as ‘Good Vibes’.

DC FanDome exclusives and new ‘The Batman’ merch available now

Hot on the heels of a record-breaking DC FanDome, DC and Warner Bros Consumer Products have revealed more products inspired by DC Super Heroes.

Multiple retailers including the DC Shop and Walmart have unveiled toys, collectables and apparel, with the DC Shop offering more than 60 exclusive DC FanDome 2021 graphics with the potential for fans to choose from more than 270 different products.

Fans are getting a first look at the new The Batman merchandise. LEGO’s The Batman collection is available for presale exclusively at Walmart.com and features three new building sets. Meanwhile, manufacturer McFarlane Toys Collectibles has debuted a lineup of collectables related to The Batmanmovie. The Batman, The Riddler and Catwoman are all available to pre-order for $19.99.

The Batman Batmobile by Hot Wheels (pictured) is a collectible replica of Batman’s newest vehicle from the highly anticipated film. This 1:10 scale Ultimate edition features movie-accurate graphics, LED lights, smoke and flame FX from both the hood and the rear, detailed exterior and interior, a Batcave-inspired plinth, and a posable Batman figure behind the wheel. It boasts high-tech features such as light and sound effects and working suspension, as well as a diorama plinth.

Puma and Warner Bros Consumer Products have dropped five PUMA Suedes, each tied to a specific DC character, designed by award winning comic artist Jen Bartel. She took her inspiration from The Suicide Squad to create sneakers for King Shark, Harley Quinn, Peacemaker, Polka-Dot Man, and Bloodsport.

Tango Hotel is releasing a limited-edition clothing collection featuring key artwork from Batman: The World, DC’s new 184-page hardcover anthology book. Apparel collections from Extra Butter and Meshika Hats have also dropped.

DC FanDome shattered last year’s viewership with 66 million views worldwide to date from the streaming event on October 16. The virtual event drew fans from around the world to immerse themselves in the DC Multiverse with exclusive first-looks and behind-the-scenes previews from highly anticipated feature films, live-action and animated television series, games, comics, home entertainment releases and more.

 

 

Bulldog signs up MoYou and The Hut Group to create new Care Bears products

Bulldog, which manages the Care Bears licensing programme in the UK, has brought on board two new licensees to create offerings based on the loveable, huggable bears.

MoYou will be creating a collection of Care Bears-inspired nail products, including children’s and adult nail art stencil plates, a nail art scraper, a nail art stamper, and nail polish. Meanwhile, The Hut Group has signed on to design a wide range of products inspired by Funshine Bear, Bedtime Bear, Love-a-Lot Bear, and their friends. The offering will span apparel, homewares, accessories, electronics, collectibles, and furniture with collections already available on the likes of www.zavvi.co.uk

Bulldog Licensing signs Bioworld for Care Bears apparel and accessories

Bioworld is on board to create and launch a range of apparel and accessories inspired by the popular Cloudco Entertainment brand, Care Bears, targeting kids of all ages as the Care Bears licensing programme continues to grow.

Fast approaching its 40th anniversary, Care Bears continues to appeal to a wide range of fans, encouraged in their purveyance of the brand by an ever-increasing licensing portfolio, managed in the UK by Bulldog Licensing. The latest partnership with Bioworld will act to leverage the universal love for the property.

Fashion partners for the Care Bears brand already include the likes of Tikiboo and its athleisure range, Irregular Choice and its footwear line, and Dolls Kill with its clothing collection. The brand even returned to the kids’ aisles earlier this year when Basic Fun launched its toy line.

Having been met with strong sales and keen reception in the US market, Basic Fun recently launched its toy range to the UK where it is currently experiencing very strong sell-through already. The range is being supported with a heavyweight marketing campaign featuring two TVCs for both its plush and interactive Care Bears.

Meanwhile, the Care Bears’ broadcast partner Tiny Pop is supporting the series Care Bears: Unlock the Magic with daily slots on the channel. New partnerships with Sky and Moonbug now further position Care Bears for significant growth in the kids market here in the UK.

Bioworld joins other children’s partners, including Zak for homewares, Whitehouse Leisure, Redan, Aardvark, Crackerjack, and the Fun to Learn magazine.

Classic greetings brand Holly Hobbie secures Truffle Shuffle deal through Bulldog Licensing

Truffle Shuffle has been confirmed as the latest retail partner for the vintage Holly Hobbie brand and a recently launched collection that spans limited edition t-shirts, mugs, and tote bags all based on the classic greetings card characters of the 1960s.

Illustrated by the artist of the same name, the Holly Hobbie property was originaly introduced in 1967 when the American author sold artwork of the rag dress-wearing little girl to American Greetings. The distinctive characters become popular and the first licensed product came to market in 1975, in the form of rag dolls from Knickerbocker Toys.

The property quickly moved in crafts, apparel, lifestyle, publishing, stationery, dinnerware, home goods and more. As a brand, Holly Hobbie has since generated over $1bn in retail sales.

Bulldog Licensing is now managing the rights for the brand in the UK and Eire and is building a programme around the classic artwork targeting adults, as well as a live-action, music-driven children’s programme, based on the hugely popular new show on CBBC soon to be in production on its third season. 

As well as adding Holly Hobbie to its roster, Truffle Shuffle has also renewed its deal for another of Cloudco Entertainment’s generation-spanning brands, the Care Bears.

Cloudco Entertainment and Irregular Choice launch 34-piece Care Bears accessories collection

Cloudco Entertainment, the owner of the iconic entertainment brand Care Bears, has teamed with the online retailer Irregular Choice to launch a collection of Care Bears-inspired accessories. The collection features new styles that showcase each of the Care Bears’ individual personality.

The 34-piece collection highlights the Care Bears’ belly badge powers and spreads messages of sharing, caring, friendship and courage to all. Each style is filled with intricate details featuring the vintage art style, including rainbows, plushie stars, sparkling gems and memorable colour combinations.
