Cuphead collection debuts at Zara

King Features Syndicate, along with its local agent in Spain, Caravanserai, has announced that gaming phenomenon Cuphead is building on its successful international presence with a new clothing collection at ZARA, the Inditex Group’s popular apparel retailer.

Cuphead, Mugman and other fan favourite characters are jumping off the screen and onto the runway with new apparel for adults and kids. Available now at ZARA stores worldwide, the collection features t-shirts, sweatshirts and shorts with designs inspired by the highly celebrated game’s classic animation style.

Cuphead is continuing to level up around the world with new publishing programmes in development for art books and graphic novels. Dark Horse and Norma Editorial are expanding the existing lineup of Cuphead books based on the original video game with “The Art of Cuphead” art book launching in Spain. The book will also hit shelves globally in markets across Europe and Asia such as France, Italy, Japan and more. Additionally, Cuphead graphic novels will launch in Spain, France, Italy, Israel, Japan and additional markets across Europe and Asia.

Studio MDHR’s Cuphead is celebrated by fans around the world for its arcade-action gameplay, highly original art design and award-winning soundtrack, featuring almost three hours of original jazz, early big band and ragtime music. A true cultural phenomenon, the game has sold millions of units worldwide and won over 20 major awards. In addition to a wide range of new product releases, this year, on 30June the Studio will launch Cuphead – The Delicious Last Course which will add an entire new island to the game, as well as introducing a new playable character, Ms. Chalice.

The game was also recently transformed into an animated series on Netflix. The first episodes of The Cuphead Show!, which debuted on February 18, made the Top 10 Kids list in 90+ countries. Due to its successful premiere, The Cuphead Show! is returning with a fresh set of episodes dropping this summer on August 19.

UCLA partners with ZARA for exclusive men’s and children’s collection

UCLA Trademarks & Licensing, an enterprise of Associated Students UCLA, has announced the launch of a new fashion collection for men and kids that celebrates the iconic UCLA brand. The new range features fleece crews, hoodies and long-sleeve tees from the ZARA “JOIN LIFE” label, embellished with UCLA’s Bruins mascot. WildBrain CPLG has signed a raft of new European deals spanning apparel, back to school accessories, fast moving consumer goods, and homewares, for the world famous video game brand, Tetris.

The newest slate of deals kicks off with the fashion retailer, Zara, who has introduced a collection of ment’s t-shirts featuring vibrant designs inspired by the Tetris brand. The range is now available worldwide across its online retail platform and physical stores.

In Greece, Diakakis Imports SA is on board for a back-to-school range launching this autumn/winter 2021, spanning bags, pencil cases and stationery. Across Central and Eastern Europe, leading Polish distributor of textile products, Carbotex, has been signed for a Tetris-themed home textiles collection, which will see bedding, towels and pillows launch from this October, followed by an apparel range in 2022.

Displate will launch a unique range of hand-crafted metal posters featuring iconic Tetris gameplay images later this year.

Additionally, WildBrain CPLG’s Germany, Austria and Switzerland (GAS) team has inked deals with Natür Food Ventures GmbH that will see a range of Tetris-themed fruit gummies launch under Natür Food’s Powerbeärs brand this month; and with Spreadshirt for an upcoming print-on-demand t-shirt range.

Finally, Tendam is on board for a line of t-shirts and pyjamas, which will be available in multiple territories across Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East starting in July.

Mattel partners with fashion company Zara to launch Barbie clothing collection

Mattel’s iconic fashion doll brand, Barbie has launched a new clothing collection with the international fashion company, Zara in a deal that marks the first time the two brands gave come together on a bespoke collaboration.

The consumer products partnership will roll out globally online and in-store and includes an eight piece female activewear collection, including hoodies, jogging trousers, long sleeve tops, t-shirts, shorts, and swimwear.

The clothing selected by the Zara fashion team for Barbie to wear showcases new creative images that are printed on two different tees that make up a part of the bigger collection all available to purchase online and in-store globally.

Additionally, a limited-edition of Barbie dolls will be sold on Zara online. The collection features two dolls, each wearing statement activewear stamped with “Zara Barbie 1959.” The Zara Barbie doll wears a cozy oversized-hoodie paired with joggers.

The doll is fully articulated and includes a doll stand and will retail at €34.95 (£29.99) with all proceeds going to Spanish charity Entreculturas.

Iconix Brand Group celebrates 50 years of Starter with Zara spring/summer capsule collection

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the athletic brand, Starter, the Iconix Brand Group has scored a new partnership with the global high street brand, Zara to develop and sell a capsule collection for spring/summer 2021.

Established in 1971, the Starter brand quickly became an innovator in global sports brands by connecting fans with their favourite teams and players, and pioneering the fusion of sports clothing with popular culture by partnering with major professional sports leagues, colleges, Olympic sports, and individual athletes.

What began with the now iconic star logo and the idea that ‘Every athlete dreams of being a starting player,’ the brand went on to become a leading part of sports fans’ lives. Starter quickly expanded beyond sport, drawing influence from music and pop culture, too, with key moments including Joe Torre of the New York Mets stepping onto the field wearing the first authentic Starter satin jacket.

Argentinian character brand Mafalda lands Zara, Pull & Bear in latest global apparel and fashion deal

The Argentinian character brand, Mafalda, has struck up a series of licensed fashion partnerships with some of the biggest names in the global industry, including Zara, Zara Kids, Pull & Bear, and Women’s Secret.

Brokered by the brand’s global licensing agency, El Ocho Licencias y Promociones, Mafalda has also secured partnerships with key retailers in Europe, including Carrefour, Alcampo, and El Corte Ingles which have each launched DTR collection for 2020 and 2021.

First published in 1964 in Primera Plana Newspapaer in Buenos Aires by Joaquin Salvador Lavado Tejon, Mafalda has grown an audience over the past 56 years that has, within the last two decades, seen books translated into 20 languages and sold in over 50 countries. To date, more than 1.5 million books have sold across the globe.

Mafalda is recognised as one of the leading classic licensed brands in Iberia and in all of Europe and Mafalda’s shirts and sweaters are among the best sellers for Pull & Bear as of March 2021.

“Mafalda is the little who hates soup and worries excessively about everything that happens in the world, always with the hope that one day, everything will be fixed and world peace will be achieved,” read a statement from El Ocho. “The [recent sales] results prove that Mafalda is completely timeless, as the philosophy of the main characters is still relevant in the crazy world we live on.”
