Sequel to 170m-download game performing well as Lisle grows UK licensing programme.

Temple Run 2 tops App Store in eight hours

Temple Run 2 has topped the Apple App Store in a matter of hours.

It became the most downloaded free app within eight hours of going live. Although it’s free to download, users can spend money on in-game extras like gems and coins.

The news comes after Lisle International was appointed UK licensing agent for Temple Run.

The original Temple Run has racked up over 170 million downloads since its release in August 2011.

Temple Run 2 adds the ability to use zip lines and mine carts, as well as four playable characters with unique, upgradable skills.

Keith Shepherd, co-founder of game creator Imangi Studios, said: “With Temple Run 2, we hope to provide our loyal players with achallenging follow-up that builds on and surpasses the endless fun of the original.”

Gayle Tarrant from Lisle Licensing added: “Temple Run as a licensed property will know no bounds for certain sectors and we are already being contacted by many prospective partners keen to be involved.

"With further plans in the pipelines for Temple Run in 2013, now is the optimum time to engage with fans eager to expand their experience with categories that go beyond the game.”

In 2012, Imangi Studios announced several licensing partnerships in conjunction with is licensing agency Dimensional Branding Group (DBG), including apparel with JEM Sportswear/Awake, sleepwear with Komar Kids and LF USA, digital comics with Ape Entertainment, card and board games with Spin Master, a dedicated online merchandise store with Café Press and arcade machines with Coastal Amusements.

In June 2012, Imangi and Disney Pixar launched Temple Run: Brave.
