Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has topped the UK box office over the Easter weekend.
Screen reports that the sequel debuted with £9m, making it the biggest opening in the UK this year, but this is down on the £11.1m UK debut of 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man.

The Winter Soldier is now close to overtaking the Iron Man’s £17.4m total, and the next Marvel film in its sights is Thor: The Dark World, which ended its UK run on £20.1m.
