Hopster, an interactive TV and learning platform for pre-schoolers, has signed an exclusive deal to bring The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child to video-on-demand service.
The platform is also welcoming Thomas & Friends, Bob the Builder, Angelina Ballerina and Pingu to its portfolio from September following a deal with Hit Entertainment.
As part of the 15th anniversary of The Gruffalo and 10th anniversary of The Gruffalo’s Child, Hopster has been given its first exclusive to bring the films to fans through its viewing platform.
To mark the deal, a special in-app take-over on Hopster will feature a promo campaign with voice-over by Davina McCall and a completely novel Gruffalo-themed interactive design.
Subscribers can claim a personalised letter and Gruffalo stationery set during the campaign.
“We are very excited about the potential of the children’s SVOD market and love what Hopster has done with our content," said Muriel Thomas from Magic Light.
"All the shows in their beautiful, organic world are so popular and we’re very happy with how the much-loved Gruffalo IP is presented and will be part of the anniversary year celebrations.”
Nick Walters of Hopster, added: “At Hopster we’re bringing together the best of two worlds: the curated goodness of a linear TV channel with the stimulating interactivity of apps.
"With 100,000 families in the UK having already downloaded Hopster, we’re able to offer content and TV partners a unique new way to engage with preschoolers and their parents – and the overwhelmingly positive reviews from families show we’re on the right track."
