The Jungle Book has become the biggest film of the year so far at the UK box office.
Screen reports that the live action Disney re-make added £1.6m to its gross this weekend, bringing its total to £39.3m. This means it passes Fox’s superhero movie, Deadpool, which had previously occupied the UK top spot.
Deadpool still holds the number one spot in the US with $362m, while The Jungle Book sits in fourth position at $311m, behind Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in third and Zootopia in second.
Rounding off the top five in the UK’s 2016 chart is Zootopia in fifth, Captain America: Civil War in fourth and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in second.
