Licensing industry charity The Light Fund has reached its target of £1 million after a record-breaking quiz night raised over £17, 000. Since the fund was started in 2004, the fund has raised a total of £1,002,500.
Sponsors of the event included Allsorts Licensing, Start Licensing, Ryker Sear, Max Publishing, Rainbow Productions, Rocket Licensing, Bulldog Licensing, Amscan, Red Central, Centum Books, Blueprint, Gosh Designs and Kinnerton.
The victors of last night’s quiz were the team from Danilo called Quizemon – Gotta Guess em all, while the losing team – and the recipient of the special Pants of Doom – was I Thought This Was Speed Dating, the team from BWI Merchandise.
Since it’s inception, The Light Fund has launched more than 100 projects for organizations including the Alzheimer’s Society, Challenge Africa, Orchid Cancer Appeal and many more.
“We began with raffles at Max Publishing awards and a quiz night. That year we raised £20,000 which we were excited about and the money went to fund specific projects," explained Trevor Jones, chairman of the Light Fund to a crowd of 350 industry executives who supported last night’s quiz at Arsenal FC.
“Since then, there have been countless fundraising activities such as karaoke, race nights, treasure hunts, Northern quizzes, 100 mile-an-hour toboggan rides, marathons, Tough Mudders, golf days, swimming around Gozo and being stung by jellyfish or people riding bikes from London to Utrecht, sample sales, bribed Sock Moneys in Las Vegas and lots of Max awards raffles and auctions."
