The Point. 1888 bolsters team with key hires ahead of BLE 2017

The Point. 1888 has bolstered its team ahead of this year’s Brand Licensing Europe with four new execs joining the agency.

Bethan Garton has stepped in to the role of retail and brand director as The Point. 1888 continues to expand its brand portfolio. Meanwhile, Rebecca Cross has joined as product development manager.

In her new role, Garton will be responsible for managing the popular MGA property, LOL as well as Num Noms, Little Tikes and a number of new brands launching at BLE.

She will also lead the strategy and implementation of toys, games, publishing, softlines and entertainment across all retail channels.

Garton previously held the role of head of licensing at Acamar Films, where she spearheaded licensing, retail and product development for the hit pre-school property, Bing.

Elsewhere, Cross joins as product development manager to head up the approvals team. She boasts experience having previously worked at Classic Media, Inspecs and CPLG.

The swathe of new appointments across The Point. 1888 – including two new brand executives joining the team in the form of Kieran Peterson and Zoe Johnson – arrive as the firm continues its plans for expansion ahead of BLE.

George Birtchnell has been promoted to senior brand manager while Jack Allen has been promoted to senior brand executive.

“I am incredibly excited to welcome Bethan, Becky, Kieran and Zoe to The Point. 1888 ahead of a very busy BLE,” said Will Stewart, managing director, The Point. 1888.

“Bethan has exceptional experience within licensing and retail, and will be invaluable as we move into a phase of rapid expansion. She will really underpin our abilities to support our strong portfolio of brands at retail.

“I would also like to congratulate George and Jack on their well-deserved promotions, both have worked extremely hard to build our business in the last 12 months. Finding the right people within an industry built on relationships has been a major priority and I am honoured and flattered when exceptional people join the company.

“There is no doubt that we are now in a really strong position with an extremely talented team.”
