The Pokémon Company International has teamed with retail giant Tesco for its first Trading Card Game promotion.
The initiative has been developed to support the firm’s newest trading card expansion Pokémon TCG: XY-Fates Collide.
The promotion, running until June, sees a number of display units installed in 250 Tesco stores across the UK, each containing XY-Fates Collide booster packs, Shiny Mega Gyarados Boxes and Pokémon 2016 spring tins.
The campaign will receive further support from a Tesco tagged TV advertising slot running across 13 channels, including ITV2, CITV, Boom, Cartoon Network, Disney, Nickelodeon, Kix and Pop.

“Last year was record-breaking for the Pokémon Trading Card Game and sales are already up by 75 per cent compared to 2015, according to NPD. We aim to capitalise on this throughout our 20th anniversary year with a host of exciting partnerships and promotions, as well as looking forward to further TCG initiatives in the coming months.”
To date, more than 21.5 billion cards have been shipped to 74 countries in 11 languages, making The Pokémon trading card game one of the best-selling trading card games in the world.
