The Powerpuff Girls celebrates Cartoon Network return with Dubai skyline tour

Residents of Dubai wouldn’t be wrong in thinking they saw any one of The Powerpuff Girls trio floating above the skyline last week.

In true Powerpuff fashion, Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup soared above the city in the form of a trio of flying inflatables all as part of the ongoing celebrations for the series’ return to Cartoon Network this year.

After more a decade away from screens, the line up of animated heroes premiered in the Middle East this year on Cartoon Network.

As The Powerpuff Girls toured the city, they passed some stand out landmarks including the Burj Al Arab, the Persian Gulf and the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.

The initial run of The Powerpuff Girls premiered in 1998 and earned two Emmy Awards along with five nominations and animation honours during its 78-episode stint.

The series also spawned a feature film with Warner Bros Pictures in 2002.
