The Very Hungry Caterpillar takes another bite of Japanese market with JS Pancakes

A suite of 14 The Very Hungry Caterpillar themed pop-up cafes and menu items will be setting up shop in JS Pancakes locations across Japan.

It’s part of a new partnership between the popular pancake chain and The World of Eric Carle. Under the deal, JS Pancake will feature themed foods, fanciful interior design and licensed merchandise.

The partnership launched on October 3rd this year and will run for four months, closing on January 31st 2019.

Eric Carle is highly respected in Japan and The Very Hungry Caterpillar IP has fueled a successful consumer products programme for infants and toddlers. The collaboration with JS Pancakes provides fans with the chance to enjoy a themed environment n one of Japan’s popular destinations.

Episodic pop-up shops in major department stores, The Art of Eric Carle travelling exhibit in key cities in japan through to autumn 2019, consumer products in retailers like Aeon, Graphis, United Arrows, Toys R Us and more, as well as the longest collaboration in Hello Kitty history sold in all Sanrio’s locations, have established The World of Eric Carle as a leading children’s brand,’ read a statement from the firm.

The licensing campaign for The World of Eric Carle is managed in Japan by the licensing company Cosmo Merchandising through the worldwide agent, Joester Loria Group.
