BBC Worldwide and Titan Comics have teamed up for a new Doctor Who comic book series.
The new deal hopes to open the Dr Who universe up to a new fan base, offering stand alone adventures featuring the tenth, eleventh and following the new series launch, the twelfth Doctor Who.
Both creative and production teams will be revealed in the coming weeks and the first comics books are scheduled for release this year.
The 2013 Doctor Who christmas special – The Time of the Doctor – saw Matt Smith’s portrayal regenerate into the twelfth Doctor of the long-standing programme, played by Peter Capaldi.
The new series will be hitting TV screen later this year.
In 2013 Doctor Who set ratings and social media records for BBC America, and having been sold to over 200 territories, was last year awarded the Guiness World Record for the largest TV drama simulcast ever after the 50th anniversary episode was broadcast to 98 countries across the globe.
