Tottenham Hotspur Football Club celebrated its growing licensing business with an open day for licensees at its new training centre in Enfield.
Representatives from companies including Akroyds TDP, Danilo and Forever Collectibles were present for a behind the scenes look of the centre, while they were also treated to a Q&A session with former Spur’s players Ledley King and Steffen Freund.
Guests were given exclusive access to the facility that opened just over one year ago, as well as talks from key figures at the club, including head of retail, Victoria Howarth, head of marketing, Emma Taylor and brand licensing manager, Gary Jacobson.
"It is important for us to demonstrate to licensees the direction in which the club is moving and to let them know that they are very much part of the Tottenham Hotspur family," said Jacobson.
"We are pleased with the growth of our licensing portfolio over the past two years, having signed 40 deals across territories including the US, Australia and Middle East, as well as our traditional UK market, and are constantly looking to take the brand into new and exciting areas of retail.
"Our world class training centre, combined with plans for a new stadium development and a multi-national squad of high quality players means that now is the time to come on board with tottenham Hotspur.
"It is our hope that, by hosting an experience like we have done today, we can give our licensees a greater feel for what Tottenham Hotspur is all about and bring them even closer to the Club than before."
Glenn Bernard of Creative Distribution, the team behind Soccer Stars, commented: "As both a Tottenham Hotspur fan and licensee, it was a true day to remember.
"As a season ticket holder for ten years, I was full of excitement at being around the amazing training ground as well as meeting two absolute legends, Steffen and Ledley.
"from a business side as a licensee, the future is full of positives. tottenham Hotspur is clearly building something great going forward."
The brand recently exhibited for the Las Vegas Licensing Expo for the first time this year and was nominated in the Best Sports Property category at the 2013 Licensing Awards.
