US: Marvel details retail promotions for Death of Wolverine comic series

Marvel will offer US comic book stores a special ‘memorial kit’ to help promote the upcoming Death of Wolverine comic book series.

Death of Wolverine, set to launch in September, will see the end of the popular X-Man and Mavel’s promotional memorial kit, designed to raise awareness of the new series, will feature artwork, giveaways and alternative covers.

The memorial kit will include postcards, memorial cards, a lithograph featuring Wolverine as a child by cartoonist Young and an alternative cover by Pascal Ferry featuring Deadpool standing over the corpse of Wolverine.

“Charles Soule and Steve McNiven have something really special planned for Death of Wolverine, and we’re planning to help commemorate the first issue of the series with a memorial at your local comic shop,” Marvel senior VP sales David Gabriel told Comic Book Resources.

“Participating shops will receive special memorial cards, Skottie Young lithographs and more. And for those of you that need a little levity in this moment of sadness, there’s also an exclusive Deadpool variant cover available.”

The Death of Wolverine comic book series will run weekly throughout September.
