USAopoly partners with HBO for Game of Thrones Collector’s Chess Set

USAopoly has struck a new partnership with HBO Licensing and Retail for the launch of the new Game of Thrones Collector’s Chess Set this week.

Fans can now reimagine The Long Night in the series-inspired chess set, that features Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen leading Westeros against the Night King, Viserion the Ice Dragon and White Walkers.

“Game of Thrones is similar to one giant chess match. Throughout the series, waged battles have been complex and strategic, requiring very tactical thinking. Characters, much like chess players, were challenged to out-think and out-maneuver their opponents to claim their victory,” said Candace Brenner, vice president of marketing, USAopoly.

“There was no question as to what battle the Game of Thrones Collector’s Chess Set would feature. It had to embody Westeros versus the White Walkers. We worked closely with HBO Licensing & Retail to select game pieces that would best reflect this epic battle, the culmination of eight years of war, friendship, death, and honour.”

With the Unsullied at the frontline as their pawns, Jon and Daenerys ride with dragons Drogon and Rhaegal as their rooks. Also marching in the Army of the Living are Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth as knights, and Tyrion Lannister and Tormund Giantsbane as bishops.

Across the battlefield stand the undead. Resurrected to serve the Night King, an army of wights are first to advance as his pawns.

The Night King and Viserion the Ice Dragon are flanked by undead horses as knights, white walkers as bishops, and the resurrected Wildling Giant as rooks, as they look to destroy humankind.
