Valiant Entertainment taps Forbidden Planet’s Matthew Klein for director role

Valiant Entertainment has named comics retailer veteran, Matthew Klein its director of sales.

The former employee of New York’s famed Forbidden Planet comic book store has joined the award-winning publisher in a director role that will see Klein oversee the sales team to engage with comic shop owners.

He will assist them in maximising sales of Valiant’s titles such as the current Harbinger Wars 2 crossover event, Britannia: Lost Eagles of Rome and the Valiant Beyond initiative featuring Faith: Dreamside, Bloodshot Rising Spirit and Incursion.

“Matthew was with us once before and quickly he had a keen aptitude for sales, from his innovative ideas to his smooth working relationships with store owners,” said Valiant Publisher, Fred Pierce.

“I am happy to welcome him back to lead our sales team as we look forward to an ambitious slate to close out the year and to an aggressive publishing plan in 2019.”

Klein added: “I am incredibly excited to be stepping into this role for Valiant. In the three years since I have been a part of this family, it has been a leading voice when it comes to retailer relationships in the industry. Ask a retailer who works the hardest to address their needs and wants, and I would bet my salary that if they have spoken to our team, they’ll say Valiant.

“And there’s no slowing down. I can’t wait for retailers and fans to see what fantastic new initiatives we have in store for them.”

Valiant was recently acquired by DMG Entertainment, a leader in global entertainment. Under the DMG umbrella, Valiant’s characters continue to be forged and brought to life in publishing, licensing, film, video games and more.
