Cartoon Network has revealed the cast and new character artwork for its revamped kids’ show, The Power Puff Girls.
The reimagined series follows the adventures of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup and is scheduled for a 2016 global launch with a full licensing programme in tow.
Amanda Leighton will voice Blossom, Kristen Li will take on the role of Bubbles and Natalie Palamides will portray Buttercup in the new animated series. Tom Kenny will reprise his role as the narrator and Mayor.
The series will be produced by Nick Jennings, the award-winning name behind Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time.
“It has been wonderful to see this new show team bring such passion and positive creative spirit to this iconic property,” said chief content officer, Rob Sorcher.
“We know that fans of every age will appreciate this new take on saving the world before bedtime.”
To support the worldwide launch of the series in 2016, Cartoon Network has already aligned a roster of licensing partners, including Spin Master for plush, toys, figures and more and Penguin Young Readers who will debut a series of books based on The Power Puff Girls next autumn.
Created by Craig McCracken, The Power Puff Girls premiered in Cartoon Network in 1996 and has earned two Emmy Awards.
